The largest part of the group's walks are put in by the Wednesday walkers. These walks started from two or three friends meeting every Wednesday and has grown to today's numbers - a great ongoing success, both within our own group and for the many others from other Ramblers groups who join us for these walks.
Our walks, and those run on other days, will range from the Chilterns in the east to the Cotswolds in the west, with others exploring the colleges, parks and alleyways of Oxford itself.
We publish two walks programmes a year, each with about 50 walks with walks on most days of the week. Distances range from 3 miles to over 8 with most graded leisurely or moderate.
Our programme makes it clear when dogs are welcomed and whether or not there is a pub stop for lunch. We have lots of day walks in the local area. We have regular short walks of up to 5 miles.
Appeal for a leader for the Area Picnic at Kirlington on Sunday 24 June 2018.
There will be a gathering of all the Oxfordshire Groups at 12.30 in the Kirtlington Quarry (NE of Kidlington) on Sunday 24 June for the Annual Area Picnic. The Oxford Group has been booked to start a walk from the Kirtlington Village Hall car park for a 3 mile walk to the picnic and a short one mile walk returning to the Village Hall car park. Alternative longer routes can be supplied if required.
Neither the Walks Coordinator or Chair are able to lead on this day, and we are therefore appealing for a walk leader.
Please let us know as soon as possible if you would be able to lead a walk on 24 June so that we can enter it into the summer programme booklet.
These picnics are very enjoyable social events and an opportunity to meet Ramblers from other groups and for a group photo!
Many thanks, Elaine Steane Chair Oxford City Ramblers
