The main purpose of this website (ramblers-oxon.org.uk) is to provide information for Ramblers in the Oxfordshire Area on the programmes of led walks, walking trips, and social events of Ramblers groups in Oxfordshire.

This website provides pages of information intended for viewing by the user, but no part of the website collects any form of personal data.

Non-personal data on the use of the website, in the form of statistics on the number of times each page is viewed, are gathered using Google Analytics. This is described on the Cookies page:Cookies.

Oxford Moonlight Stroll Supporting the Sobell House Hospice, the Oxford Moonlight Stroll takes place on the 12th of July. More details can be found on our Charity Walks page and for full details see the Oxfords Moonlight Walk website where you can sign up. Every penny raised goes to helping people throughout Oxfordshire affected by terminal illness.

Parish Path Wardens There are further (January 2014) updates to the Guidelines for Parish Path Wardens.

A study investigating breathing perception We have been asked to publicise this call for volunteers to help evaluate how people percieve their breathing.

Members of Oxfordshire Ramblers have been shortlisted for two of the six categories of the Ramblers President’s Awards. Please consider voting for them.  Jim Parke is up for the "Protecting Where We Walk Award", whilst Vanessa Corrick and Tony Morgan have been short-listed for the "Promoting Walking Award". You can read about all the nominations by following this link Jim’s contribution (apart from him being Publicity Officer for the Area and Vale Group) was to create the Vale Path Volunteers for maintaining rights of way in the Vale of White Horse. Not content with that, he has done sterling work to greatly expand the number of Parish Path Wardens throughout our county. Vanessa and Tony, of the Oxon Weekend Walkers (WW), produced a six-minute video “Out and About With The Oxon Weekend Walkers”. This wonderful film is not only an encouragement to join the WW specifically but it is also a tool for promoting walking with Ramblers throughout the country. To view all the nominations, click on the link above, then click on the titles of each award to take you to a short description of each of the three short-listed nominations in each category. The winners will be announced by President Kate Ashbrook at General Council in Liverpool later in the month. Voting is a way for each member to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions made by a selection of Ramblers’ Volunteers, and volunteers more generally. More specifically, by voting for the Oxfordshire nominations we raise the profile of Oxfordshire Ramblers, which will help us in seeking more members, and volunteers across all the categories of Ramblers’ volunteering.

AGM January 2014

We had a good turn out, about 60 members, and thank are due to Vanessa and her team for the excellent walk,  delicious cakes and general organisation. Thanks also to Rosemary for sorting out the pub lunch. We welcome Sheila Dickie as Members Rep, in place of Don, and thank him for his contribution to meetings.
