 Monthly Photo Competition Winners

We started a monthly photo competition in 2025 to celebrate the joy of rambling. Each month we publish the winners in the H&G monthly E News and on this website. There will be a prize for the best overall photo at the end of the year.

Photos should be taken on an H&G walk. By submitting your photos you are consenting to H&G using the photo for publicity purposes. Let us know if you do not consent.

The October Winning Photo

The winner was Inge Mikkelsen witha photo of H&G Ramblers walking ound Thorney Island on our ecent trip to West Sussex. The judge highlighte the beautoful cloud patterns in the sky and the reflection of the sun on the sea.

The August/September Winning photo

The winner was Cyndy Gray with her atmospheric photo taken on the Ile de Brehat on our recent trip to Brittany. The judge chose this picture because of the drama, composition and colours. There is a sense of coming autumn.

The July Winning Photo

The winner this month was Inge Mikkelsen with a lovely photo entitled 'My Scottish Roots' taken on the Group's recent trip to Kingussie in the Cairngorms. The judge loved the composition of the image - the hazy hills in the background, the trees and water in the middle ground and the sharp detail of the pattern of the gnarled roots providing the perfect foreround.

 The June Winning Photo

This month's competition was won by Joan Clark, with her photo showing a group of H&G walkers enjoying and taking photos of a poppy field near Ewelme. Joan's winning photo was full of colour and human interest and will now join other monthly winners to be considered for a prize at the end of the year.

The clear winner of this month’s competition was Inge Mikkelsen with a stunning image of bluebells in the woods at Nuffield. Our judge commented that the photo was well composed with a perfect horizontal carpet of bluebells, nicely framed and with good lighting and appropriate exposure given the strong colours. A nice reminder of Spring.

Greer Crazies Hill 2 March Small

The black and white picture of the bridge with the shadows falling across the ground and a sense of spring in the air, invites you to cross the bridge.
