Vale Path Volunteers
VPV - Winter 2018
he VPV has had a busy time this Winter with sessions in Dorchester-on-Thames, Baulking, Childrey, Hinton Waldrist, Kingston Bagpuize and Abingdon. The work the team can undertake has been enhanced by the purchase in November of a long-pole petrol-engined hedge cutter, funded with a grant from Oxfordshire Area Ramblers. The hedge cutter can slice through vegetation growing at the side of footpaths up to a height of nearly 3 metres, particularly useful when clearing bridlepaths. The photos show some of the team on a recent Abingdon clearance the hedge cutter in action. A video of our February clearance in Abingdon is shown here.
VPV - Summer 2018
During the summer months 2018 the Vale Path Volunteers have worked on a number of paths including that in West Hendred Ginge valley. This is an important path that gives access to the Ridgway. It had become very overgrown as a result of the wet Spring and the hot Summer and in places was impassable. The team also cleared the Volunteer Way path in Great Faringdon which forms part of the Vale Way.
