Oxfordshire Area Ramblers

Our walks programme offer walks that range from 4 mile leaisurely walks to 13 mile moderate grade day walks.

These include walks on Thursdays from regular start points from Abingdon Market Place, Faringdon Market Place (though some walks start from nearby villages on the Number S6 bus route) and Wantage from The Beacon. Most walks are leisurely graded and 5 to 6 miles long with walks from Abingdon on the 4th Thursday of the month being moderate graded and longer, 7 to 10 miles.

Our other walks can be from a variety of locations in the Vale or further afield with plenty of variety, usually on Tuesdays or Saturdays and are often longer.

Our programmes usually include walking a long-distance trail in sections over the summer, a summer away day a summer picnic with all Oxfordshire Ramblers groups and social events. These were restricted for 2020 and 2021 and we have not yet got back up to speed with travelling further afield although our local led walks programme is bigger than ever.

In 2015 the Vale group launched a new walking trail called ‘The Vale Way’. A 27 mile trail through the Vale of White Horse from Abingdon to Longcot via Wantage and Faringdon. Many of our walks include sections of this pleasant trail. There are also longer walks on the trail.

Please come and join on a walk and enjoy our wonderful countryside in good company. You will be most welcome.
